Dear CEOs,

Before the next year picks up speed, write a note to your team.

Not a Slack message.

Not a deck.

A letter.

Include:

1. Gratitude.
Specific thanks for what they built and endured last year. Name the wins. Name the hard parts too.

2. The strategy.
Where you're headed in the coming year, and what's different from last year. If nothing has changed, that's worth noting.

3. Focus.
The three things you are working on. And equally important: what you're not working on. Clarity here is a gift.

4. A close with soul.
Remind them why this work matters. Not the metrics. The meaning.

This takes an hour. Maybe two.

But it forces you to think clearly.

And it gives your team something rare: a leader who took the time to reflect before charging ahead.

The best CEOs I work with do some version of this.

Not because it's a best practice.

Because it's a human one.

Yours,
